Construction Ambassador

Co-founder Sean, in his capacity as Construction Ambassador for the Construction Industry Training Board, volunteered his time today to support local apprentices.

The main aim of a Construction Ambassador is to help build a positive image of the construction industry through visiting schools, colleges and higher education institutions to promote the construction industry as an attractive career option. Today’s task was to conduct mock-interviews with second and third year apprentices at Harrow College.

“It’s rewarding to be able to help young people avoid the common pitfalls in interview situations. It was also rewarding to get out of this office for the day!”

‘Performance Beyond Compliance’

Having recently carried out their second site visit, the Considerate Constructors Scheme has awarded the St John’s Wood site with a score which exceeds the requirements set out by the scheme.

The scheme seeks to improve the image of construction by setting standards and monitoring registered sites for compliance. Primrose achieved 8/10 or ‘excellent’ in three of the five individual categories which make up the assessment. With all five categories achieving at least 7/10 or ‘Very good’, the site has been awarded with a certificate of Performance Beyond Compliance

Necessity compels!

After a suffering a major mechanical breakdown on route to a site meeting, Director Steve, shows us he’s not easily detained.

“The engine died but I managed to coast into a pay and display bay. Then I spotted the Boris bikes and thought, I can still make it.”

Well done Steve, the over-shoes are particularly fetching!

Construction Ambassador

Primrose founder, Sean, has been recognised as a Construction Ambassador by CITB-Construction Skills.

After being approached by the CITB earlier this year, Sean was delighted to take on the role which seeks to encourage young people into the industry.

The main aim of a Construction Ambassador is to help build a positive image of the construction industry through visiting schools, colleges and higher education institutions to promote the construction industry as an attractive career option.

“I want to inspire young people and help them see the wide range of opportunities that the construction industry offers. Our industry represents 8% of GDP and employes 2.6 million people. In my view, the opportunities within the sector are boundless!” – Sean Carter.

Primrose celebrate 10 years in business

In May 2004 Sean and Steve took a leap of faith that at the time seemed so risky. Today is ten years to the day since Primrose Building Contracts was incorporated as a limited company.

Over the past ten years the company has sought to provide a high quality, well organised and excellent value service. This was very much the intention of the founders, having been involved with other companies who’s offering was just not up to scratch.

“I am proud today of the dedication and passion of the people who have contributed to, and who continue to buttress Primrose’s success” – Sean Carter, Co-founder

A safe site is no accident

Steady, carefully phased and above all safe. The complicated excavations underway at our Kensington and Belgravia projects are, by their very nature, dangerous.

Founders, Steve and Sean, place a strong emphasis on site safety and insist that our partners and sub-contractors adopt a similar approach.

During a recent surprise inspection by the health and safety executive, the site manager was commended for his attentiveness to safety matters. The HSE regularly inspects central London construction sites, particularly projects involving excavation, and if safety and welfare standards are not being met the site can be shut down.

Blockwork commences at Rickmansworth project

With ground excavation and foundations complete, Primrose have begun laying the blocks and brickwork at the project in Rickmansworth.

This is week three of an twenty-six week contract,  and progress is currently right on schedule.

Keep an eye out for more news on this and other projects soon.
