A building that earns its place in the community it serves.
Random Cafe is a non-profit organisation based in Watford with a straightforward but vital mission: intercept surplus food, reduce waste, and make good meals available to anyone who needs them on a pay-as-you-feel basis. When their growth outpaced their existing premises, they approached Primrose to design and build a new home for their operation.
The brief required dedicated space for food storage, preparation and cooking alongside a welcoming dining area for customers. Sustainability was a core requirement throughout, not an optional extra. Home-grown larch cladding was specified for the exterior, and a heat pump combined with LED lighting keeps the building’s energy consumption to a minimum. The result is a space that reflects the values of the organisation it houses.
Built for purpose, delivered with care.
Working with a community organisation on a project like this requires the same attention to brief that every Primrose build starts with, and the same commitment to delivering something that genuinely works for the people using it. The new building has allowed Random Cafe to expand their services and reach more of the community they exist to support. It is one of the projects the Primrose team is most proud to have been part of.
Primrose Projects delivered the full internal refurbishment of the Bayswater College campus in central London, transforming the existing premises into a modern learning environment for international students.
St. Nicholas sits at the heart of the beautiful village of Taplow, so the new 30 m² building needed to keep a low profile while meeting a fixed budget. Primrose was instructed in early July and delivered the project, including associated landscaping and accessible pathways, by the end of August. All within four weeks on-site.
Primrose transformed an unused caretaker's house into a modern educational facility housing six dedicated classrooms for one-on-one and small-group teaching. The Tailor Provision was designed to support a more personalised, student-centred teaching model delivered within a demanding six-month timeline from conception to occupation.
Every Primrose room starts with a conversation. Tell us about your garden, your ideas and your budget — and we’ll tell you exactly what’s possible. No obligation, no pressure.
