A fantastic opportunity has opened for a buyer to join our office team, based in Watford. Primrose offers this junior role with the promise of onward professional development within the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To deal with day-to-day procurement requests received from site, including chasing incorrect or late deliveries to protect revenue.
  • To develop and maintain sound procurement procedures whereby materials are purchased at favourable rates and are fit for purpose.
  • To co-ordinate deliveries to site to meet the demands of construction programmes in an efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Assist project leaders to ensure compliance with Construction Traffic Management
  • Assist project leaders to ensure compliance with any project specific procurement policy and the Primrose general procurement policy.
  • Assist project leaders to comply with the Considerate Constructor’s code of practice as relating to procurement and deliveries.
  • Maintain and improve on-site practices relating to deliveries and advise/train site operatives through regular ‘toolbox’ talks or newsletters.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Understanding of building materials, their uses and how they are sold
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • IT skills – MS Office, Excel, Outlook, Word etc
  • Some industry experience as a buyer, working for a merchant or even at site level would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize your workload
  • Confident, Self-motivated & Enthusiastic
  • Flexible & adaptable. Ability to work both alone and as part of a team

Support: A laptop and mobile phone will be provided and the position will be supported on a daily basis by our office staff and directors.

A fantastic opportunity has opened for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team, based in Watford, on a part time basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of competitive tenders and quotes
  • Maintain and develop our schedules of rates
  • Reconcile cost/value reports and profit forecasts
  • Ongoing development of a sub-contract/ Material data base
  • Negotiate subcontractor packages/ Process subcontractor requests for payment
  • Management and control of sub-contract accounts and variation accounts
  • Develop an understanding of the specific contract, ensuring compliance with conditions throughout.
  • Measure progress, submit valuations, submit final accounts and retention release requests
  • Completing a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designated projects
  • Where appropriate attend project related site meetings
  • Manage the expenditure on projects to optimise cashflow
  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with architects and clients, to help future business development

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience with SOR Rate Books (preferable)
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent level of numeracy
  • IT skills – MS Office, Excel, Project, Word etc
  • Industry experience in the role of a Quantity Surveyor
  • Excellent Time Management
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Confident, Self-motivated & Enthusiastic
  • Flexible & adaptable
